Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Babak's Oriental Carpets ("we") collects through babaksorientalcarpets.com, how we use it and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act.

What we collect

• Orders: your name, email, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, the carpets you buy and your order notes.
• Accounts: your name, email, phone, saved addresses, wishlist and order history. Passwords are stored only in encrypted (hashed) form.
• Messages: what you send us through the contact and showroom-visit forms.
• Newsletter: your email address and when you confirmed your subscription.

We do not see or store your full card number. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe; PayPal when you choose it).

How we use it

• To process, ship and support your orders, and to send order emails (confirmation, shipping, gift card codes).
• To answer your messages and arrange showroom visits.
• To run your account, if you create one.
• To prevent fraud and keep the website secure.
• With your consent only: our newsletter and a reminder if you leave carpets in your cart. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the website needs to work: your cart, your sign-in session and your checkout confirmation. Carpets you save to your wishlist without an account are kept in your own browser. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the store, and only what they need: payment processing, shipping carriers, email delivery and website hosting. Some of these providers may store information outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of that country. We never sell your personal information. We may disclose information when required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. Messages and newsletter records are kept until they are no longer needed or you ask us to delete them.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (except what we must keep by law). You can also update your details yourself in your account. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Children

Our website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 19.
